Making Homework Fun

When your child becomes fussy about homework, there are some ideas that you can try some of these:
  • Play games and introduce music as part of an activity. Use YouTube as a guide for listening to the songs for time tables, spelling, phonics etc.
  • Reward your child with simple words like "great job",  "excellent", "nice", "I know you can do it". Give them a 'high 5', a hug and a kiss and a healthy snack.
  • Make sure all electronic devices that will cause distraction be turned off. Don't let them play with any until all tasks are completed.
  • Assist your child with their homework, be more involved as they appreciate this gesture. As parents the manner in which we encourage our kids play a huge role in their behaviours and the was we communicate with each other.
  • Pretend or do some role playing. You can be a character in the story, a role model and maybe a teacher.
